Delhaize Lion Fit

The interior combines the energy of a professional fitness environment with a clear connection to the Delhaize brand. Black, grey and white establish a strong, neutral base, while carefully placed red accents bring the company’s visual identity into the space. Dedicated workout zones, space for group sessions, lockers and seating benches create an environment that feels purposeful and inviting, designed around how employees actually use the facility.

BB Design’s scope extended from interior design and partial project management to demolition and general fit-out works, including partitions, ceilings, painting, flooring adaptations, lockers, benches and loose furniture. One of the main technical challenges was integrating specialist sports flooring with the existing raised technical floor and varying floor heights. Careful coordination ensured that the different surfaces, architectural elements and furniture came together seamlessly within the strict delivery schedule.

Lion Fit quickly demonstrated the potential of workplace design as an active wellbeing tool. Around 700 employees registered before the official opening, out of approximately 3,000 people working at the Kobbegem headquarters. The strong early engagement shows how investing in employee facilities can go beyond physical wellbeing — creating new opportunities for colleagues to reconnect with each other and their workplace.
